Roof hail damage produces millions of dollars of damage across the US every year. The National Weather Service indicates that the majority of hail falls in the central sections of the US, but that certainly doesn’t mean that we are exempt from disastrous hail in the Indianapolis area.
Hail varies in size, density and terminal velocity – all 3 of which play a major part in any potential hail damage to your shingles, along with the angle of impact and age of your roof.
Inspecting for Indianapolis Hail Damage
2013 brought a couple of back-to-back hail storms across Central Indiana in April. The last day of August also brought us a little bit of unexpected hail in certain parts of Indy. But how do we determine if we have hail damage?
For one, if you know hail was in your area or you’ve seen your neighbors receive inspections or new roofs after a hail storm, you should contact us for a free inspection of your roof right away. Most of the time, hail does not create immediate leaking or visible damage from the yard. But over time, hail damage can evolve into a major emergency situation.
Once hail strikes your shingles, the entire roofing system has been compromised. You can develop leaking into the attic that you may not notice until it’s way too late – or worse, leaking into the interior of your home. It’s always best to get an inspection from a trained eye; we can spot issues and repair them before they become major issues, or in many cases work directly with your insurance company to replace your roof.
Emergency Indianapolis Hail Damage
The goal is to always perform regular roof maintenance and do a thorough inspection after any hail storm to catch any potential issues and fix them before it becomes a bigger problem. Unfortunately, mother nature isn’t always on the same page.
At ReNew, we are on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Sometimes roofing emergencies cannot wait, and whether that’s an emergency repair or a tarp to stop leaking until more major repairs can be made, we have you covered.
